What’s Causing the Headache?

Imagine visiting a skilled chiropractor for a stiff neck.

Rather than jumping straight into a massage  they’ll ask about other symptoms—headaches, dizziness, perhaps even have you walk around so they can observe your body’s alignment. They understand that the pain you’re feeling may not be the actual issue; it’s often a symptom of something deeper.

That’s exactly what we do when we work with organisations that are struggling. We don’t just focus on the obvious problem - the limp or the neck - we dig deeper to uncover the root cause.

Sometimes it’s the immediate pressures in the market creating tension. Other times, it’s an unresolved trauma from years ago—perhaps a shock or setback—that has left the company stuck in a mindset that no longer serves it and just like the human body, it has tightened up.

If necessary we’ll “crack-the back” with an unflinching question. In other cases we’ll work gently over time especially when people have felt undervalued, threatened or overlooked.

And sometimes, the best solution is rest. We talk a lot about the importance of pausing to reflect, especially with founders who struggle to switch off have created a culture of workaholism that drains the entire team.

It’s no coincidence that the Latin word for “body” is corporea, which can refer to both a human body and a corporation. Both need care, balance, and sometimes, a little adjustment to function at their best.
