Shun dry instructionals: drama, comedy and intimate portraits make training videos more engaging and effective.

Below are examples from Boden, IKEA and the NHS

Boden Production Process

Boden wanted to show every step of their complex garment production process in one short film, so that every team member worldwide would understand their vital role in the process. Our films have played a key role in reducing the amount of time it takes to get new recruits up to speed, in an industry where high staff turnover presents ongoing challenges.

IKEA Mobile Multicolore

IKEA needed a way to communicate its business model to several thousand new managers. We recommended creating a fictitious furniture company, Mobile Multicolore, to highlight the key learning points. After the success of the film, IKEA launched a social media campaign based on the characters we created. The films and course won Gold at the Brandon Hall Learning Awards.

NHS Learning Academy

This series of dramatised films was part of the biggest executive training initiative the NHS had ever undertaken. The structured dramas were commissioned by learning experts Line Communications to demonstrate how grassroots ideas can transform the way things are done. The films continue to be shown to every executive in the organisation as part of an online learning experience.

We commissioned this work with a clear purpose – to help develop skills, knowledge and improved performance in our leadership community, in a way that reflects the needs of health leaders. Quality and safety of care depend on staff engagement and the extent to which they feel cared for. The work beautifully captures that balance and has exceeded our expectations with the impact it has had.
